Understanding the Mandatory RFID Pilgrimage System
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has replaced old paper yatra slips with high-tech Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tracking cards. These smart cards regulate crowd flow, prevent overcrowding at Bhawan, and enable real-time tracking of lost pilgrims.
How to Obtain Your RFID Card
- Online Pre-Registration: Register on the official Shrine Board website to generate a digital registration slip with barcode. Show this barcode at priority counters in Katra for 1-minute card issuance.
- On-Arrival Offline Counters: Located directly at Katra Railway Station (Platform 1 exit), Katra Bus Stand, Niharika Complex, Serli Helipad, and Tarakote Marg entrance. Counters operate 24 hours a day.
- Requirements: Physical presence of each family member along with original government photo identification. Digital facial photograph is captured on spot.
- Returning the Card: After completing the yatra, deposit the card in automated return drop boxes at Ban Ganga or Katra exit checkposts.
