Taking Divine Blessings for the Little Ones
Undertaking the pilgrimage with babies and toddlers is common and deeply rewarding when planned with care. The modern infrastructure developed by the Shrine Board makes family travel significantly easier than in past decades.
Tips for Traveling with Babies and Toddlers
- Take the Tarakote Marg: Unlike the traditional staircase-laden Ban Ganga track, the new Tarakote Marg has a gentle slope, wide smooth tiled pathways, and zero ponies or dung odor, making it ideal for push-prams and strollers.
- Hiring a Verified Pithoo (Porter): Pithoos carry infants securely in specialized canvas sling carriers (kharka). Always hire through the official Shrine Board registration booth to ensure verified police background checks and fixed government rates.
- Feeding & Warmth: Carry a thermos with warm boiled water, baby formula, thermal layers, and infant fever medicine. Numerous baby-care cubicles and heated dispensaries are available along the track.
